SCIENTIST. MANDALORIAN. APOSTATE.
Once an esteemed Mandalorian scientist and researcher for Clan Pifra, Juno Caheere was outcast from her clan after a sudden and tragic bombing of a city she and her research team were visiting. Plagued with survivor's guilt and grounded by her oxygen tank, Juno grapples with her circumstances and clings to what is left of her research and identity.

PERSONALITY
Juno initially appears as a very composed and even-keeled woman, much like one's idea of a stereotypical Mandalorian. That is, until you get her talking. Eccentric, off-kilter and a bit acerbic, Juno adheres to a personal moral code and does things by-the-book... well, her own book, anyways. Her brilliance and wit is unmatched, often to her own detriment, and she dedicates her life to her studies and work in a way that often isolates her from others. Despite her dead-pan attitude and her odd rituals, Juno is a very animated person, one who enjoys indulging those around her in her ideas and exploring the many mysteries the world has to offer. She relentlessly continues her research despite her status as a disgraced Mandalorian scientist.Much like a soldier, Juno has a resolute sense of justice, even if her morals are a bit bizarre. She does what she believes is right to protect the people she loves, and will topple buildings without hesitation if the situation calls for it. Her Mandalorian loyalty is unrivaled, and she is prone to holding grudges. In a similar vein, Juno struggles to break free of tradition until she is forced to confront it, but she refuses to give up trying to embrace change and new beginnings, even if it is difficult for her.Juno holds exceptionally high and extreme standards for herself, remnants of the many harsh expectations placed upon her in her clan. Her research stops for nothing, not even injury or illness, and she can be exceptionally stubborn and hard on herself despite her level-headed nature. Any attempts at displacing her schedule will be shot down with her own assorted argument as to why she should continue. While she is very pragmatic, she often gets tunnel visioned on her work due to her one-track mind.
ADDITIONAL INFO
Juno is fluent in basic and Mando'a. She is semi-fluent in binary.
Juno owns the official title of 'Doctor', often being referred to as Dr. Caheere before her exile. Any usage of this title in the present will surprise her, and she generally keeps it rather hidden, though her public record betrays her certified status.
Speaking of public record, Juno is well-documented in the underworld, and one does not have to look hard to find her original occupation and status - though she works hard to scrub that off of the holonet.
Juno is unable to breathe for long periods of time without the aid of her helmet and oxygen tanks. Because of this, she no longer has a jetpack, and cannot fly. In addition, both of her legs are prosthetics from the knee down.
Juno's studies focus around biological augmentation and dissection, vivisection, anatomy, biotechnology and planetary flora and fauna. She discovers and charts undiscovered planets, and researches their properties and inhabitants.
Juno is autistic.
Juno does a lot of talking with her hands, and gestures frequently as a means of conveying an idea.
Juno has an extreme fear of having her head submerged underwater.
Additional Info - Cont.
Juno is, in truth, a very sweet individual - she's just a bit awkward. She has no idea how to show or share affection with others due to never having been shown how, nor ever being allowed to do so, resulting in her often trying to display her affection in strange and confusing ways that only make sense to her. It does not help that she is extremely touch-repulsed and refuses to be seen as vulnerable, which further prevents her from connecting to people.
Juno suffers consistently from nightmares and night terrors, though she has gotten very good at hiding them. Having a helmet on while one sleeps does wonders for masking any potential fear indicators on her face. That being said, she will often subconsciously grab the nearest thing in an attempt to find comfort or grounding, which is often CD or some other nearby object.
Whereas some people have flight, Juno is constantly in 'fight' mode. She holds herself defensively and does not respond well to being surprised or spooked.
Juno's humor is extremely dark, and she makes quite an assortment of what is affectionately known as "baby blender" jokes. She will get noticeably disappointed if people don't pick up on her teasing or don't understand she's joking.
While her primary occupation has her deeply involved in the biological side of life, Juno still has a good grasp and understanding on physics and theoretics, as was required by her clan. It is very clear that her skills taper off when getting into the engineering side, however, and while she is phenomenal at working out the logistics of an invention on paper, she struggles to execute said inventions and gets frustrated when things don't work out as she anticipated.
She is very experienced with hand-to-hand combat, and uses her vibroscalpel as her preferred weapon. That being said, she is not particularly strong. Her fighting style relies on her competency and ability to outwit the opponent as opposed to brute strength or speed.
Juno has an extremely expressive face. She is unable to hide her emotions well, as her body language and expressions often betray her. She prefers her helmet for this exact reason.
Juno is very easy to trick into rambling, though she tries very hard not to be. Just ask her enough questions and she'll be talking at length in no time.
Juno views her hands as the most vile part of her body, and believes anything they touch may be harmed or tainted. Her gloves both act as a sanitary measure and a way for her to keep her hands from directly touching anything.
REFERENCE
EARLY CLAN LIFE
Juno's early life was nothing if not unspectacular. Born into an old Mandalorian clan of honorable title and lineage, she was intended to be part of the next generation of that clans warriors - until her behavior began to develop. Considered 'strange' and uncontrollable by her peers, Juno's odd, unsettling and antisocial behaviors proved to be an incredibly difficult thing to handle for her clan. She didn't understand or follow commands, she refused to play with other Foundlings or cooperate, and she had a strange fascination with texts and learning that completely dominated any interest in her heritage or combat. Her clan was at a loss as to what to do with her, or how to handle her. Until Chieftain Pifra came along, that is.On the hunt to collect and take in unwanted Foundlings, Chieftain Pifra was instantly interested in Juno and offered to take her off of the other clans hands, to which they accepted without a second thought. Before Juno even realized what was happening, she was being whisked away to a new location and forced to adapt to this sudden change in environment. Unlike her last clan, though, Clan Pifra was more than able to nurture and handle her oddities and behaviors - it was the very thing Chieftain Pifra wanted in her Foundlings, after all. She sought out Foundlings that displayed these strange and unusual behaviors and habits, knowing that these children had the potential to be the best of the best in her clans studies and practices.
Clan Pifra would be Juno's home for the next twenty years as she endured their harsh training and even harsher expectations, continuing her studies and becoming a highly esteemed scientist amongst their ranks. Instead of trying to balance both studies and combat training, the clan enforced demanding expectations that you excel in both and are able to keep up with rapid research and experimentation at the same time. Because of the extreme stress and ridiculously outlandish expectations she had to meet, alongside the horribly unethical experiments she was forced to perform, Juno developed early-onset graying hairs and a frazzled look. She pushed herself to the extreme and developed terrible habits to keep up with her clans harsh desires. She even trained excessively to be formidable in combat, due to her naturally not being very skilled in it, and she practically worked herself to death to ensure her clan she was able to defend herself and others. She did anything she could to prove her worth and important to Clan Pifra. She was especially good at dissection and the harvesting of organs, which didn't go unnoticed in her clan. Because of her adept skills, she would frequently be placed on "Body Duty", which were essentially 24-hour body-scalping shifts where she'd tear apart any bodies they tossed her way, dead or alive, in an attempt to salvage parts for their research. Not only did this destroy her sense of self and resulted in her developing odd habits, but it also tarnished others view of her, many denoting her as one of the clan "butchers". Juno despised this practice and hated her hand in it, but was forced to complete it under any means necessary. It was not long until Juno earned her official title as 'Doctor', and was appointed the lead of her own scientific research team within the clan. However, dissent amongst Clan Pifra was stirring. Juno was never voluntarily onboard with the various unethical sciences that she was tasked to undertake, and while she was one of the best of her ranks, she was also developing the one thing Pifra had feared - Morals. Morals, and a voice. She wasn't the only one. Juno and her assigned research group had begun to discuss their displeasure and disdain for the practices, and this small group of dissenters were only growing as time passed. Juno had unintentionally started a micro-movement within Clan Pifra, and Pifra herself knew she had to put a stop to it before it blossomed into something uncontrollable. So, she crafted a plan. Directly killing Juno and the other growing dissenters would be far too brash and obvious. A more nuanced approach had to be taken. Thus, Pifra concocted a trap - a scheme to lure Juno and the others in, and take them out in a manner that would seem as organic and tragic as possible. A bombing. With her plan properly crafted, Pifra tasked Juno and her team to visit the planet of Yaava for a research expedition. While they were in transit to the location, Chieftan Pifra hired an undergroud fleet of bounty hunters and salvaged war machinery to bomb the city in a surprise onslaught, with the intent to wipe out Juno and the remainder of the research team. Juno and her clanmates were none the wiser to Pifra's grand plan. Then, it happened. The commissioned forces stormed the city and devastated the population and its architecture. One by one, each member of her research team of seven fell; Juno did her best to save her clanmates, but there was nothing to be done. As the final explosives hit, Juno was caught in their onslaught, resulting in the loss of her legs and the destruction of her lungs. Her helmet, too, was blown off in the explosion. Miraculously, she survived - but she was the only one of her team to do so.Clan Pifra managed to recover her, along with the bodies of their fallen, but Juno's survival was an unseen factor in Pifra's plan. To kill her while she was in the care and company of her clan would be far too outright and suspicious. Thus, Pifra opted to allow Juno to live and recover in the clan, until she could be exiled under the guise of "suspicion" for being the only survivor of the surpise attack. Pifra claimed her survival was intended and betrayed Juno's true intent, which was to wound the clan and reduce their numbers. This was communicated to the entirety of the clan. Her treatment - her recovery - was the bare minimum. They never spoke to her. They never looked her in the eye. They acted as if she was a phantom; her own family had turned on her without a second thought, and she was a ghost amongst their ranks, only being aided so that she may be forced to leave as soon as possible. The day finally came where Juno was officially exiled from Clan Pifra. Forced to stand amongst her own people, Juno was declared an apostate by Chieftain Pifra and promised death if she ever dared try and return. The burden of the fallen was placed atop her shoulders, their deaths laying heavy on her name and their untimely demises being attributed to a crime she did not commit. Juno was forced to give up all of her armor except her helmet, which they allowed her to keep, so that they did not have to see her face as she left. They spoke ill of her name as she boarded the junk ship they afforded her and declared her an omen of death as she left the atmosphere. Save for her companion droid CD-0, Juno was entirely and utterly alone.
POST EXILE
In the wake of her exile, Juno contended with her isolation and attempted to salvage what little remained of her identity. No longer fit to call herself a Mandalorian and yet still bearing the helmet, she focused most of her efforts on adapting to her new limitations. Learning to walk efficiently with her prosthetics was hard, especially alone and in the confines of her ship, but CD cheered her on and assisted where he could. Likewise, they tested her lung capacity and figured out ways to maximize the time she had without her breathing aid. Both of them knew the road ahead would be difficult, but Mandalorians were built for survival - if she was even worthy of calling herself a Mandalorian anymore. It took her some time to adjust to the drastic change and her new limitations, but eventually, Juno and CD began trying to fulfill odd jobs and requests to earn some credits. Juno still had access to her own portion of Clan Pifra's galactic library, and while it was merely a fragment of the incredible database she once had access too, that fragment alone held coveted information that she knew would be sought after by informants. So, she became an informant herself, levying and trading information with others, expanding her digital library, and getting involved in bounty hunting to feed herself and ensure she had enough medical supplies to get by. Her combat skills came in handy on the job, and she quickly found herself wrapped up in large informant cells and whispers. She hated every aspect of it. The right kinds of people weren't looking for her information, and she quickly found out that the wrong types of people were willing to go to any means necessary to know what she knew. She attempted to cut many of these people off, but that only resulted in her information being stolen and sold to be used against her, and soon, she had more enemies than she knew the names of. Instead of being an informant, Juno now dedicated her time to destroying and recovering the information she had stolen from her, going to various contacts, places and points of interest to recover stolen intel.
THE FACILITY
A few months after her exile and introduction to the outside world, one major event happened that would forever fundamentally change Juno as a person. During a mission gone awry, Juno is captured and taken to a planet called Rjara One, which was home to an expansive group of scientists and doctors hired by the Kaminoans to perform experiments on P.O.W. Held in an underground facility and completely cut off from society, Juno would endure three months of grueling tests and unethical torture not dissimilar to what her clan would do to the people and soldiers they'd scalp off of battlefields. It was this captivity where she would meet Tech of the The Bad Batch, who had been captured and taken from his team during her own imprisonment.Juno’s primary doctor would subject her to an assortment of different and grueling tests, but had a particular fondness for endless combat simulation; how she fought under the influence of various substances they were developing, how long she could go for, and monitoring how her body reacted to certain stimuli. She would often be pitted up against fellow captives as well, which forced her to combat potential allies. This was to test her strength as a Mandalorian and to ensure she would be able to withstand the more demanding activities he had planned, and would result in a following obsession with training that she would develop post her retrieval. Beyond that, many of the so-called 'experiments' were merely torture disguised as something with some underlying scientific goal. Blood-letting to gather 'samples', electrocution to test 'endurance', anything they could get away with calling it to ensure the Kaminoans never caught on to the unethical testing that went on underground. She also experienced an excess amount of tests in relation to her lung capacity and her resistance to electricity, often taking place in altered bacta tanks. This resulted in her developing a fear of having her head submerged in water.Such tests and torture took an incredible toll on Juno, who struggled immensely with her circumstances in the facility and perceived it as some kind of cosmic karma for all the unethical experiments she was forced to conduct under Clan Pifra. In an attempt to rationalize the horrors being placed upon her, Juno would deem herself as some sort of omen, just as her clan did when she was exiled. Despite this, Juno held on, growing closer to Tech and discussing with him ways in which they might possibly escape. Their relationship blossomed during their capture, and they began to see each other as a small glimmer of hope within the bloodied facility halls. They'd discuss plans, their goals post freedom, their occupations and their ambitions. Slowly, as they grew closer, their topics became far more personal. More hopeful. More sentimental towards each other. It was not long before their true feelings would surface, between the durasteel walls that held them captive. Somehow, in the darkest corner of the galaxy, something hopeful had blossomed. After 3 months, a GAR Siege on the facility would begin, granting Juno and Tech an opportunity to escape. Using the fake darksaber her doctor had made for her (and intended for her to wield in future), she would kill both the doctor and any other facility workers she came across, patrolling the facility and its halls until her injuries would stop her. In the following months, she would both regain her sense of humanity, adapt to how the experience changed her fundamentally, and wield the fake darksaber as a proclamation of her freedom and autonomy. These experiences would never leave her, however, and healing from both the physical and mental wounds would be her hardest obstacle yet. However, with Tech's insistence, The GAR and The Bad Batch took her into their world and allowed her to heal within the protection of their ranks.
POST ORDER 66
When Order 66 occurred, one of the first things that Tech did was alert Juno. They both decided that, to ensure the others safety, they would cut contact until more information arose about what was going on. This lasted for about a month. Once more information was revealed and their inhibitor chips removed, Tech would reach back out to Juno and the two groups would meet up once again. From that point on, Juno would travel directly with The Bad Batch on most of their adventures, helping them research the inhibitor chips and try and decipher what was going on behind the scenes. Their storyline follows the canon timeline, and she is there for the fall of Kamino. When the batch are introduced to Pabu, Juno and Tech create a temporary lab set-up on the island, using it as a small base of operations when they have the free time. In addition, they also just use it for fun, learning more about the islanders and having the freedom to go and explore a bit when they have the time. This is also around the time that Tech begins trying to work on her jetpack again, attempting to find a balance between using it as an oxygen tank and also as a source of mobility. By the time Plan 99 happens, the jetpack is not complete, however it is complete enough that it is able to function for a brief period of time. This allows Juno to catch Tech during their fall, though they still have a harsh crash and sustain many injuries.Due to The Bad Batch still being an ongoing show, this section remains relatively open and will remain that way until the show ends. Even then, Tech and Juno never really have an 'end' to their story, as they travel around the galaxy and establish various research camps and facilities to conduct their studies and add to their now shared galactic library. This section is actively in development as more is revealed about TBB S3 and any other TBB-related content.
CLAN PIFRA
Clan Pifra is a new-age Mandalorian clan founded in 53 BBY by none other than Chieftan Pifra. Founded and built upon the intent to expand on the scientific pursuit of knowledge, it was a clan of second-choices; foundlings who just didn't catch on like the others. Foundlings who found their interests in other things beyond the Way, ones who were captivated by the world around them. No less capable in combat, but ones who flourished in other points of interest. Chieftain Pifra of Clan Pifra was particularly interested in these foundlings, and would take in any who seemed out of place amongst the combat-centric clans around them. It was through this that she created a clan of researchers, of scientists, and of engineers.Clan Pifra took part in some… odd practices. They would scalp battlefields for bodies, alive or deceased, and take them back to their base to perform any amount of unethical experiments on them. If you happened to be left behind by your crew, chances are you would be kidnapped by the clan and subjected to their tests and trials. Juno partook in this as well, despite her hatred of it, and bears many scars from her days on ‘body duty’. All clans who knew of Clan Pifra at the time referred to it as “Clan Demagolka” due to their cruel practices, and many condemned any of its members to a death just as cruel as their experiments.Clan Pifra was also extraordinarily harsh in their training and practices. Because Foundlings were expected to be just as formidable in combat as a normal Mandalorian, they were expected to be able to balance their extreme training alongside their studies and research. Foundlings would often be pushed to the brink and be forced to work for days on end without break or sleep, truly pushing them to their ultimate limit. This was exactly what Chieftan Pifra wanted - her pupils were to be just as capable as any other Mandalorian, even if they spent their time conducting experiments and research. One particularly unique practice to Clan Pifra was the bestowal of BD-1 droids unto any Foundling who passed their verd'goten. By passing the verd'goten, you would be deemed a successful child of Pifra and an official member of the clan, alongside being given your own personal companion droid to help you aid in your research and studies. BD-1 droids were the perfect pick for this, due to them being built for research assistance and exploration. This is how Juno met CD.What many weren't aware of was the manipulative nature of Chieftan Pifra, and how such behavior reflected onto her clan. Pifra taught all of her clan members that they were the only ones worthy of the knowledge they discovered, and that others did not deserve the privilege of knowing what they knew. Along with this, Pifra isolated all of the clan from society, only allowing members to research other cultures and people and never truly interact with others if they didn't have to. Many did not agree with this direction and refused to see themselves as better than anyone else, Juno included - but there were quite a few who truly believed they were "pioneers of the new Mandalorian age", as Pifra would say.
F.A.Q
What inspired Juno's creation?
- Juno was originally inspired heavily by Ellen Ripley, played by the iconic Sigourney Weaver. The intention was to recapture the powerful energy of a solo, space-faring protagonist, and much of the Alien franchise spurred on ideas that would later be incorporated into Juno's canon. Though many years have passed and Juno now is entirely her own character, her roots and influence from Ripley are still evident. Was Juno made to be shipped with Tech?
- Not originally, no. She was intended to be her own character, with no ties to the canon. It was not until people pointed out their chemistry that I begun to develop Juntech as a ship.Is there any Juno-related content and media I can consume off-site?
- Me and a friend are in the process of publishing a longform fic titled "Long Way Home", which will feature Tech and Juno's first meeting and elaborate on Juno's prior lore. Can I draw/write/cosplay about Juno?
- Absolutely! All art and writing is very cherished and adored - you will recieve paragraphs of me screaming, and your work will be featured on her sites. :)Is there any Juno-related merch I can purchase?
- Yes! All merch from Cosmic Love: A Juntech Zine will be available for purchase individually in the future. In the meantime, keep an eye out on our social medias incase we do drop any Juno merchandise.Am I allowed to make NSFW content of Juno?
- This depends on many circumstances - Juno is aromantic asexually, so generally, sexually-oriented NSFW content of her is discouraged. However, if you have something in mind, just talk to me personally and we can discuss. :)Can my OC and Juno be friends?
- For sure! I am always open to creating and developing friendships for Juno and other characters! Can I roleplay with Juno?
- DM me and we can absolutely discuss this! I love roleplaying, but I am a very literate and extensive writer, so that must be discussed beforehand! Is Juno shipped with any other characters?
- Not really, but I love exploring silly character ships with her! If you want to make shipping content of Juno with someone else, go for it!I'd like to discuss something not listed here. Where can I contact you?
- I am Wrenkenstein on all available platforms, including Discord. Just reach out to me on whichever site is most convenient for you. ^^
RELATIONSHIPS
TECH: Tech is Juno's, for lack of a better word, soulmate. He is her primary confidant and simply understands her on a level far deeper than words could ever go. Juno, similarly, understands him just as deeply, and within each others love and company, the two have found potentially the deepest form of connection that there is to be found. It is a rather unconventional romance, lacking the stereotypical roses and flowery language one may find in a romance holo, but that simply makes it far deeper and more meaningful to the both of them. Juno seeks Tech's wordless company out subconsciously, and the two are recharged in the presence of the other. Outside of their relationship, they both express far healthier habits and happiness simply within the others company, and have come to understand and accept themselves as a result of being accepted and cherished by the other. As such, they are often referred to as a unit - no longer simply "Tech" and "Juno", they are now "Tech and Juno". They would have it no other way.
HUNTER: Juno and Hunter have a good, respectful relationship. While they often butt heads due to both being placed in leadership roles and generally having different ideas on how to tackle problems, they manage to function cohesively and overcome their differences in perspective to achieve a common goal. Hunters role in the squad actually allows for Juno to step back from a leading role and focus on herself a lot, which she appreciates deeply due to her hating being in any sort of leadership position. While they're close, they are close in a very guarded way. Hunter understands and respects Juno, but similarly to Tech, he knows he will never understand how her mind works, and he's okay with that. He sees how happy she makes the others and that makes him happy in turn. They both know the other is reliable and loyal, but they also both know they're family now, so they're understanding of one another as much as they can be.
WRECKER: Juno will never admit she absolutely loves Wrecker. He pushes and crosses her boundaries at times, but he's always incredibly supportive of her and offers her physical contact in the moments when she knows she could never voice that she needs it. He's helped her grow a bit less touch adverse, and while he may not understand a lot of what she says, he's always tuned in regardless. Wrecker, also, loves Juno! He sees how happy she makes Tech, and that makes him happy. And, despite his assumed oblivious nature, he does notice that she brightens up when he's around. He also sneaks Lula into her arms if she's having a nightmare. Wrecker very much adopted her instantly, and won't let her leave. Juno is, also, noticeably less harsh towards him in everything she does. She's pretty aloof towards everyone else, but she softens up quite a lot when speaking to him.
ECHO: Echo and Juno are very similar to close siblings. Not only are they bonded through their shared prosthetics and trauma, but they also have very similar ways of thinking and strategizing, so they get along swimmingly. Both Echo and Juno bounce off of each other easily, even if they're debating something and at odds with one another. They definitely have also had some close, one-on-one talks about their prosthetics and how the war has affected them, and who they've lost along the way. Despite being older, Juno looks to Echo a lot for guidance and advice. There are a few things between them only they can understand, and they have found comfort in knowing someone who understands what it's like to live with their circumstances.
CROSSHAIR: While they absolutely did not get along at first, Crosshair and Juno eventually warmed up to each other through gradual banter and the erosion of their own personal walls. Crosshair, being extraordinarily protective of his brothers and adverse to any changes within the group, was at first very dismissive and apathetic towards her. She had to work hard to earn his respect over time, but they did eventually find common ground in their shared humor, of all things. Crosshair is one of those people Juno would trust with her life, even if that's never actually spoken. They're a bit similar in a few ways, and she picks up on that, so she never pushes further than he lets her. She's honestly surprised a lot of the time when he backs her up or supports a declaration of hers. They have fun, low-simmer banter that seems harsh to others, but is totally mutual and enjoyed between the two of them. Beyond that, however, one would not say that they are close.
OMEGA: Omega thinks Juno is the shit. She looks at Juno and she's reminded of a lot of heroes from all sorts of war stories and holo-movies. Omega sees her as this strong, cool, totally collected person that Juno absolutely is not, but Juno puts on the display for Omega anyways. Omega will go out of her way to fin random stories, read them, and then giggle to herself when she finds the quirky and emotionally constipated, super cool lady hero, before going "Hehe, that's Juno." Juno adores Omega and tries to treat her as a foundling of sorts, but she also worries constantly and doesn't really understand her. She never had the chance to be a kid or experience a child's mindset, so she struggles a lot to understand that when people say "Omega's just a kid", they really mean it.
